Moses wrote concerning future kings, “And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes” (Deut. 17:19). What was it that would be read all the days of his life, the book of the Law! In the days of kings the word of God was to be read and observed as it it today, the word of God is to be read and observed by all God’s children. This lesson will build on the teaching that God’s people are people of the book.
