Identity of the Church – You are the Chosen

“You are the Chosen”

The title of our lesson today is “You are the Chosen”. We learned in our first lesson that our LORD called us saints, not because we performed some miracle, or because we are especially talented, not because of anything to “deserve” sainthood, but because we obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ, and were baptized into His body, the church.

Because Jesus’ blood was applied when we died to sin and were buried with Him in baptism, we were raised up to walk a new life, born again. We were purchase by Jesus, and the payment — was His precious blood shed after His death on Calvary’s cross. So, make no mistake, even though this letter is nearly 2,000 years old, Paul is still speaking to us, the called, the saints in this local church this very day.

We have been spiritually separated from this dying world, called into the relationship with Christ.
The brothers and sisters here, and around the world, are described by the spirit of God’s word, as the faithful, meaning we have complete trust in our God and Savior, Christ.

Our text today is, “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,” (Ephesians 1:3-4).

Let’s begin our study in the 3rd verse, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”  (Eph. 1:3)…
