Eccl Lesson 11 Getting to the Point Part 2

Getting to the Point

Part 2

We have been seeking the wisdom of Solomon in a series called, “Don’t Waste Your Life”.

Today is the second part of a lesson we began last week called “Getting to the Point”

This then will be our final lesson from Solomon’s Book of Ecclesiastes.

In the last five verses of Ecclesiastes Solomon makes his final conclusions regarding his look at life.

  • Remember that Solomon began by trying to determine what a person gets for all his efforts in life.
  • What is the gain? What is the advantage? What is the benefit?
  • The question for us all is do we get a payoff for all that you put into this world?
  • Solomon clear about this answer: A definitive NO!

But the teacher in no way concluded that life is hopelessness and meaninglessness.

  • Clearly there are many benefits, many blessing in life that God has given us to enjoy.
  • But many, if not most are hindered because they try to make the pursuits of this earthly world their hope.
  • Doing that will most certainly leave you feeling empty, depressed, and frustrated.
  • Why? Because God subjected this world to futility.
  • Truth is that you’ll never get back what you are putting into it.

It’s like trying to run down a rabbit for supper. Good luck with that!

An important conclusion, something we all need to understand is this:

  • Feeling empty, depressed, or frustrated does not mean you are doing everything wrong.
  • Rather God made life this way with a purpose. He wants us to look to Him who alone can provide us with the true joy that calamities of life cannot take from you.
  • Only in Christ can one find true peace, true satisfaction.

So, what is the final word from the teacher?

What is the end of the matter…
