HANNAH THE POWER OF PRAYER
1 SAMUEL

Our God is the true and living God that is the God of compassion and the God of Glory!

When we go back and look into the Old Testament history and we see God being glorified in the work that He did to bring the children of Israel out of the Egyption bondage they suffered. He heard their cry and brought them out with a mighty arm. We learn from the children of Israel as He brought them out that they were not as trusting as they should be. There was a very dark period in their history recorded in the Book of Judges. When you go throught that you see the wickedness and it’s just appalling. It’s terrible to think about all the things that happened back then. 

 But, as we are thankful for the sunrise and the light of the day on the horizon, certainly that is the time in the history of God’s people that we are going to talk about tonight. A time in which the Spirit of the judges was about to end and a godly faithful woman was instrumental in bringing this about. So, let’s open our bibles to the book of 1 Samuel and let’s read together about this godly woman named Hannah. 

SPIRITUAL OR CARNAL

the Old Testament was writting for our learning that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Rom. 15:4). Certainly Joshua was a leader who had hope in the Lord and he trusted in the great commander who went before him and the conquest was successfull to the point of were the people could dwell in that land of milk and honey, and they had to continue to fight, to resist the temptations that were before them and the nations that were driven out. 

So in Joshua 24:14-15 we read, “14 “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” 

As we’ve read afore, Joshua made it clear, there is a choice to make, and we can express that simple choice, certainly we must say it is a black and white choice, whether of not we will serve the true and living God or whether the god of this world. 

In this lesson we are going to express the choice in a little different manor. We’re going to ask each of us to consider this, for we have a choice that each of us have to make. Will we be spritual or will we be carnal? 

OBEDIENCE -THE FATHER & HIS CHILDREN!

In this lesson we will think about our loving Fatherk, of ourselves as His children and the power that comes from submission and obedience to our Father. 

In Hebrews chapter 12 we think of our Creator in very helpful terms. The Need of our Father to Chasen Us – So That We Can Be More Like Him!

“7 If[d] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?” (Hebrews 12:7-9)

Our Creator, God is Spirit, and we come to worship Him in spirit and in truth. 

Verse six says, “For whom the Lord loves He chastens…” Let us turn to the scripture and meditate on these good things…

“1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5).

Now as we think about this psalm 103 of the healing and the forgiving and the crowning with loving kindness and tender mercies. Let’s read of such one from Matthew 26 beginning at verse 69…

In the first chapter of Genesis we read of the creation, with the first words from God, “let there be light”, (v.3). In this chapter we then see that the word was involved, the light was involved and life. These are three basic components that we see in the book of John chapter one. In verses 6 through 18 we read about “the light”. In this lesson we are asking, “Why Did the Word Become Flesh?” There are many answers, and we’ll investigate them beginning in the book of John. Notice the first answer in verse 12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”. Jesus the Word came to gives man the right to become the children of God…

THE PERFECT LOVE

We know from the Holy Scriptures that God is love and that we can continue in that love. In this lesson we will be seeking a greater understanding about God’s love as described in 1 John 4:18 as “perfect love”. 
The Glorious gospel, intertwined with the purpose of the commandments as it says in verse 5, “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from [b]sincere faith,” Therefore, we know that sincere faith comes from a good and honest heart that accepts the word of God.

So, as we think about love we know that it is described in a few ways that we would like to explore in this lesson…

There are many topics on which we can talk on this evening regarding being a new creature in Christ. Things that have to do with our relationship with God, with our brethren, with those who are outside of Christ in the world. 

We know from studying our scriptures and being disciples of our Lord Jesus that we can gain much to be prepared for the work that must be done in the kingdom. For any kingdom to be successful there must be workers.  We know Jesus is our example. We read in John chapter 9, “I [a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (V.4). 

We are so blessed to have another opportunity to worship God in spirit and truth. His is the fount of every blessing and the only one law giver Who is able save and destroy, and He would have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. We are thankful we have the truth delivered to us through the Holy Scriptures that are able to make us wise unto salvation through faith that is in Christ Jesus.  

So we open our bibles, let us be stronger be edified, we hope we all have one heart and one soul as citizens of the kingdom God children who are obedient and ready to serve the Lord for the remaining time in our lives. 

We have a glorious King Jesus Christ Who reigns from Heaven above, He is head over all things to the church, He is the Prince of peace. 

To those who are faithful, and continuing steadfast in the scriptures and in the Lord and His service. We all awoke this morning with great joy because we were given the opportunity to worship the King. The King Who is all glorious above. We read about men who were very joyful in their desire to worship as well in Matthew chapter 2. 

In this study then we will investigate the joy of the Lord in the lives of all His children…

Sorrow and pain will not be a part of heaven, but it was certainly a part of the lives of the Israelites in the land of Egypt. As we read of a period of time shortly thereafter, of their salvation and redemption as they were at the mercies of the LORD and Moses the law giver as they made for they had done evil and committed a great sin making for themselves a god of gold. Therefore the stones of the law were broken, and Moses was given instructions by the LORD. 

“You shall make no molded gods for yourselves. ”  (Exodus 34:17)

Truly, our God is an Awesome God, and as we consider life and all the amazing’s aspects of it. We thinking of the verse we studied in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.  14 For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” Our God has an awesome plan for each and every one of us. We think of Him as He has set in motion the wonderous works and spiritual things. 

We will be emphasizing the greatness of God in this lesson beginning in Isaiah chapter two where Isaiah has many things to say about the Messiah and His kingdom. “1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. 3 Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem”” (2:1-3). From this study we’ll hear and be learning more about the different aspects of God’s kingdom…
