Ever consider how powerful the little word “come” is?

Jesus:
- “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” – Matt. 16:24
- “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden” – Matt. 11:28
- Jesus said to Peter “Come…out of the boat, walk on the water and walk to Me” – Matt 14:29
- “…come to Me and drink…out of YOUR heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38
Jesus invites all to come to Him, come live as I lived, come raise your children right, come and follow me to heaven where I Am!
IT IS THE INVITATION OF GOD
Therefore, for a little while today we’re going to talk about why Jesus.
Many today might ask why Jesus because they look at all the amazing accomplishments of man
- Medical,
- Technology, computers in 60’s whole rooms – now powerful size of a wrist watch…
- Space Travel, Nasa satellite Cassini – sent Oct 15, 1997 almost 20 years ago, men on the moon
- Communications, around the world in seconds
- Cars that drive themselves
With all this why Jesus, what can He offer me, that I don’t already have.
- What can Jesus do for me that man is all his wisdom hasn’t already done or will eventually do?
- How can Jesus understand my troubles today, my life, my challenges when Jesus lived in the first century world that is so different from my world today?
Different customs, different language, no real technology, why Jesus?
Our world is different indeed, if Jesus were here today…
- The FDA would be after Jesus for turning water into wine without a permit
- The Sierra Club would be after Jesus for killing a fig tree
- American Medical Association After Jesus for practicing medicine without a Medical degree
- Teachers Union would be after Jesus for teaching without a teaching certificate
- OSHA …because Jesus walked on water without a life jacket
- PETA …because He allowed the swine to jump into the sea
- National Organization for Women …because He had no female Apostles
- National Board of Psychiatry …because he helped people deal with their guilt
- Board of Zoning …because he fed 5,000 people without a permit
- Building Department …because he built His church without approval from a certified architect
There would be no end to how our world today would seek to hinder the Lord
So, we ask how in the world can Jesus help us?
But be sober about this question, because if it is not Jesus, then who?
